#CHEERLEADERS DREAM BOYFRIED BECOMES A DEADLY NIGHTMARE PLUS#
We had to get the police involved.they bodged so many things near the end - we are now going through a solicitor which is a whole different kettle of fish.our builder assumed that being British we were loaded.big mistake! But I guess this could have happened in the UK as well.but on the plus side.the weather is glorious.the wine cheap.and all is well with the world.

Although our French is limited, we did our utmost to ensure all communication was in French (we had a French friend who did all the translation) and kept smiling even when they took the whole of May off for no reason!.then it all turned nasty when we discovered that our 'luxury' bathroom was in fact full of Welldon specials.not what we ordered at all.to cut a very long and boring story short, they ended up threatening to cut off our water and electric and come and physically remove us. We thought by employing a French builder to construct our house we would be supporting local industry and putting something back into the community. The reality however has been somewhat different. We moved to the Lot some 18 months ago with our minds wide open to 'living the dream'. we brought a cosy house with central heating and a decent plot of garden set in framers fields. I experienced one winter here and i changed my mind. We moved here with the idea of buying a large old house with lots of land. Get a feel for the area and the cold winters which this area of france experiences. I would recommend to anyone who was thinking of moving here was to rent first. Knowing that i am not depressed with the rat race and the miserable weather in the uk and my kids were nt going to turn into thugs who carry knives and throw the teachers abuse. But i would rather sell up here and move to a plot of land here in sunny france and live in a caravan. We have to look at our finances in a different light. Yes we are on a very tight budget here now the euro has taken a turn for the worse very different from 4 years ago. But our Water rates and council taxes in the uk were going up and up. The french taxes are very very expensive and we make a point of having to budget. Which is even better for us as a family unit. My husband still works in the uk which means travelling backwards and forwards but mostly he works from home. Our children make it quite obvious that a return to the uk is NOT what they want. They are in good schools and are helped when at a disadvantage. The children are more respectful to us and others, thanks to the school system. In the uk we found the weather was becoming worse which caused us to be couch potatoes. Everything is so much cheaper for a day out.
We spend more time as a family, skiing, local lacs and bassins. I could afford to give up work and spend more time with the children. We moved out here to give our children a better quailty of life NOT quantity the house we brought here was half the price of what we could have afforded to one similar to the uk.
People are right by saying it all depends on your situation, retired, young family etc some lead different lifestyles than others.
